Curriculum Overview:
MPCA uses the High Reach Learning® curriculum in every classroom. HRL® is a research based, thematic, hands-on learning system which blends teacher facilitated and child initiated activities.

PK 1 “The Ladybugs” (M/W),(T/TH) or (F)

Toddlers explore everything with boundless energy. Encourage their sense of discovery with Curriculum for Toddlers while building vocabulary, encouraging imagination, and personalizing learning. Skills and Concepts Covered: Talking & Listening, Vocabulary, Colors, Social/Emotional Development, Self-Concept, Small/Large Muscle Development and Creative Expression.

PK 2 “The Caterpillars” (M/W/F) or (T/TH)
9:00am–12:00pm
Constantly in motion, two year olds are determined to learn on their own. Provide a rich learning environment that helps them expand their vocabularies, find appropriate ways to express their creativity, and safely discover the world around them with Curriculum for Twos. Skills and Concepts Covered: Talking & Listening, Vocabulary, Colors & Shapes, Self-Concept, Small/Large Muscle Development and Creative Expression.

PK 3 “The Butterflies & Frogs” (M/W/F) or (M-F)

Provide creative, hands-on activities that allow children to learn through experimentation and exploration while encouraging development of higher-order thinking skills. Language, science, patterning, independent thinking, and creative expression are a few of the skills covered with Curriculum for Threes. Skills and Concepts Covered: Language Development & Literacy, Phonological Awareness, Numbers 1-10, Shapes & Colors, Counting, Sorting, & Patterning, Graphing & Problem Solving, Science, Healthy Habits and Socialization.

PK 4 “The Bees and Fish” (M-TH) or (M-F)

Build a foundation for lifelong learning by encouraging children to learn through play. By stimulating creativity and providing hands-on activities for exploration, Curriculum for Pre-K: Butterflies gives preschoolers readiness skills necessary for entering kindergarten. Skills and Concepts Covered: Language Development & Literacy, Graphing & Problem Solving, Phonological Awareness, Creative Expression, Counting, Sorting & Patterning, Numbers 0-12, Alphabet, Positional Concepts & One-to-One Correspondence, Science Exploration , Shapes & Colors and Socialization.

K “Book Worms ” (M – F)
9:00am–1:00pm
Expand on the skills and independent learning of five year olds. With learning objectives derived from a cross-analysis of state requirements, Curriculum for Fives features a systematic phonics approach that gives children the skills to become strong readers. Hands-on activities for language arts, science, math, and social studies provide extended opportunities for discovery. Skills and Concepts Covered: Letter Recognition, Initial Consonant Sounds, Long & Short Vowel Sounds, Blending Phonemes, Reading Comprehension, Creative Writing, Number Concepts 0-20, Addition & Subtraction, Ordinal Position & Patterning, Measurement, Time & Money, Prediction, Analysis & Experimentation and Multi-Cultural Awareness.
